Asymptote Architecture, New York
Floriade Pavilion, Haarlemmermeer, 2002
The Harelemmermeer Pavilion was built for Floriade 2002, the world horticultural exhibition in the Harlemmermeer Polder. The pavilion is the first large building completed by the New York firm Asymptote Architecture. Computers played an important part in the design process. There is hardly a right angle anywhere in the fluid shape of the building, which recalls ocean steamers of the 1930s.
