Meditation Dome Floriade, Haarlemmermeer, 2002
The Meditation Dome was built for the international horticultural exhibition Floriade 2002 as a place for visitors seeking tranquillity. Inside, the atmosphere is set by the transformation of light and sound and the movement of water. This effect is created by the skin of the dome, which consists of a 2500 m transparent flexible tube, wrapped in a spiral form around a steel frame. The resulting shape is that of a classic dome which, like the Pantheon in Rome, has a round opening at the top through which the sky is visible.
