Floriande Bridges Hoofddorp , Hoofddorp, 1999-2001
The area consists of a number of ‘islands’, each designed by a different architectural firm. Zwarts & Jansma aimed to boost the visual coherence of the estate by giving the bridges a family look. This applied both to the foot and cycle bridges and the road bridges. The bridges decks all have a similar curvature. The sides of each concrete bridge ‘curl’ up to create an elegant openwork parapet topped by a stainless steel handrail.
