Water villas and apartments, Roosendaal, 2002

The design, finishing materials and detailing unite the villas and the apartment building into a whole, creating visual unity in the scheme. Each villa consists of four brickwork slabs with elements of glass and wood between them. The entrances to the houses are at first floor level. This floor can be reached from the street on the top of the dyke via a footbridge. From the entrance level, stairs descend to the floor below at lake level. Immediately from the entrance, a visual connection with the water is available through a corridor which penetrates the house.
