Architectuurstudio Herman Hertzberger
Water Dwelling, Middelburg, 2002
The main drawback with conventional houseboats is that they are too much like boats and not enough like houses to provide really comfortable living conditions. Herman Herzberger’s design aims to solve this problem. The dwelling has three stories that the occupier can lay out according to taste. The living room, for example, could be on the ‘ground floor’ or on the upper floor. Each of the three storeys has its own generous terrace.
