We regard both people and animals as creatures with a need for food, for the company of their own sort, and for relaxation opportunities. Different species reach their goals in different ways: what is a connecting route to one is a barrier to another. We make use of that idea in this design by allowing the city of Almere and the Oostvaardersplassen wetlands to expand and interpenetrate, creating a new wetland area in which human habitation is segregated on islands.
